Sunderland International Airshow 2013 DVD / Blu-ray

from £20.00

The Friday evening launch party for the 25th anniversary of this momentous airshow could not have had a better weather backdrop with the setting sun glinting on the aircraft wings. The BBMF performed their first ever evening show and The Red Arrows in particular with their smoke trails in a golden sky offered a sight of rare beauty. Typhoon burst with shock waves and, as night fell, the SWIP Team fired off their breathtaking new pyrotechnics.

For the main weekend displays the weather was great too with the Falcons Parachute Team getting thir full freefall.

The Royal Navy made a great contribution to the show with helicopters on the ground and in the air. The Black Cats Helicopter Display Team share a special link with the South East as Sunderland Football Club are also known as the Black Cats. Both Black Cats are keen to display their links and the Royal Navy's Westland Lynx HMA8 spent the weekend operating from the football club's academy and training grounds. On top of the the solo display, the team also flew in formation with the Royal Navy Historic Flight's Fairey Swordfish marking over 70 years of naval flying history.

The great weather just continued over the weekend for a huge and exciting line-up including a rare Dutch Apache helicopter complete with flares, WWII battle with air/sea ‘rescue' and the mighty Vulcan.
