Priceless historic gems share the sky with modern military machines and some of the UK's most gifted pilots showcase breathtaking aerobatics in one of the biggest airshows in the UK. Crown all that with the eagerly anticipated return of the Vulcan and the iconic sight of the Virgin Atlantic 747 in formation with the Red Arrows – all in fabulous clear weather - and you have a truly classic event. The Royal Air Force, the Royal Navy and the Army Air Corps all supported in strength. Even the USAF mustered a rarely seen KC-135 tanker. The classic Hunter and Sea Vixen vintage jets were joined by the legendary F-86A Sabre in one of its last ever displays in the UK and Team Viper with their BAC Strikemasters made their debut. But it's the WWII types that are most closely associated with this historic Battle of Britain fighter station sothe Hurricane, Me109, P-40 Kittyhawk, P-51 Mustang, Lancaster and no fewer than 4 Spitfires have to be considered the show stars.
