The weather came up trumps for Abingdon's tenth anniversary show; crystal clear air and beautiful fluffy clouds so our high-definition cameras captured some breathtaking images. An RAF C17 flyby and landing for static display astonished everyone with airborne and ground agility surpassed only by its spirited departure later. At the opposite end of the power and weight scale Guy Westgate (with our cockpit camera) did the same with his Swift glider. More RAF support came from the Tutor, Hawk and the Chinook. The powerful twin-rotor heavy-lifter performed an extraordinary routine. D-Day veteran DC-3 Dakota “Drag ‘em-oot”, P-51D Mustang and P40 Kittyhawk represented WW2. Andrew Dixon's Pembroke, the North Weald-based DH Vampire and debut display by Neil McCarthy in his Jet Provost T3 demonstrated post-war history. The Dukes of Cassutt racers, Nigel Wilson's Yak 52 and the Tigers Parachute Team jumping from the Chinook provided the thrills and spills. The whole event was made to support the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance.
