Classic Jet & Fighter Airshow 1996 DVD

£20.00
sold out

There was a sense of history being made at the Old Flying Machine Company's Classic Jet and Fighter Airshow at Duxford in 1996 as preservationists continue to push the boundaries of civil operation of ex-military jets.

Glorious weather backed a flying cavalcade of over 20 pioneering jet aircraft of a dozen different types made this one of the best airshows in recent times.

Martin Baker's Meteor represented the genesis of jet power and the once ubiquitious Hawker Hunter thoroughbred made its debut in OFMC hands.

Civil airliners featured too, including the Comet and Concorde making a timely diversion from Heathrow's anniversary celebrations.

Some famous piston types bring an audible respite OFMC's Dewoitine D27made its debut - but jets dominate this video. The reported prospect of a flying Mig 17 or even a Mig 21 and Phantom maintains the excitement until the end.

Special Feature This DVD also features an additional 30 minutes of material on the English Electric Lightning. Included is a celebration of the Lightning's 30th birthday with a display by Lightning XP693 at BAe Warton. The recovery of XR724 to Binbrook is also covered in detail.
