This video draws on the very best action and set pieces back to the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain in 1990 when 12 Spitfires flew together. There are no interviews or music. Narration is restricted in favour of the hi-fi stereo sound of Merlins and Griffons.

The combination of Shuttleworth's tiny grass airfield, the amphitheatre effect with a dog-leg crowdline and perimeter trees provide the stage for accomplished flying in an especially manouvrable clipped-wing variant of this famous fighter.
