Superb weather and a big and varied line-up ensured that Sunderland’s 2011 airshow did not disappoint.
Show star had to be the Vulcan but British aerobatic champion Gerald Cooper took some beating for skill and thrills. The Matadors in their new Sbach 300’s rewrote the formation rulebook and the SWIP Team surprised and delighted the big crowd that attended the Friday evening display with their aircraft lit up like Christmas trees and firing fireworks like Guy Fawkes night!
Spitfire and Hurricane lead the warbirds and the Catalina is just one of 7 displays with on-board interactive cameras.
