Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey is home to the BBC’s “Top Gear” programme. Add in its association with nearby Brooklands and you have a reason to include a big motoring feature at the show.
Recent Dunsfold history centred around the manufacture and test of Hawker types so Hurricane, Sea Fury, Hunter and Hawk are most appropriate here. The Red Arrows then are especially popular but they just might have been upstaged by a magnificent synchro pair routine by quarter scale radio controlled models.
The Vulcan is also most welcome at Dunsfold, the base for one of its major sponsors and other classic jets displaying included a Jet Provost and the Gnat Team. Aerobatic champion Gerald Cooper thrilled everyone with his high energy routine in an XA41.
Add a full complement of warbirds and great weather and you have a truly vintage Dunsfold event.
