The Duxford Spring Airshow 2010 launched the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s programme to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the decisive 1940 air battle.
In 1944 Dorothy Shuttleworth founded the Richard Ormonde Shuttleworth Remembrance Trust in memory of her only son, who had been killed in a Fairey Battle on a night-flying exercise in 1940.
RAF Leuchars in Scotland is now the only RAF air show to open its gates at the historically important mid September date commemorating victory in The Battle Of Britain.
