Flying Legends Air Show 2012

The Fighter Collection at Duxford hosts what has come to be arguably the best warbird show in the world. The weather in 2012 was perfect for video; clear air and fluffy clouds. To accomplished flying and some unique formations add skilled camerawork, stunning minicam sequences, start-ups and close-up shots and you have a thrilling DVD from start to finish.

Notable displays included 3 Mk1 Spitfires flying together, the Curtiss 'Hawk trio, the Corsair and Bearcat pairing and the 7 Spitfire beat-up and tail-chase.

The star performer for the writer was the Lufthansa Ju 52 but for most others it was either the new 'razorback' P-47 or Tom Schrade’s Sikorsky S-38 ‘Osa’s Ark’ .

Re: Flying Legends Air Show 2012 PRE-ORDER AND CLAIM A FREE DVD

Regardless of the sarcastic comment about who is "DUXFORD" from Planes TV I know my email to them got things moving form their response to my email.

I hope anyone still waiting receives their DVD soon.

Re: Flying Legends Air Show 2012 PRE-ORDER AND CLAIM A FREE DVD

Amy, may I ask who is "Duxford" and who is "this company" that you propose are denied access in the future?

You need to know the full details behind the production of the DVD you have ordered so you can direct your complaint appropriately.

Flying Legends Airshow is run by The Fighter Collection who are a tenant on Duxford airfield. They contract a company called Flying Machines TV to make their official DVD.

Flying Machines TV contracts us, PlanesTV, and many others including The Imperial War Museum (Duxford Airfield owners) to take orders for their product.

We (PlanesTV) and the shop at IWM Duxford are in exactly the same position - we are both waiting for stock to arrive so we can supply those who have ordered in advance.

If you had placed your advance order with IWM Duxford you would be in exactly the same position except we give a free DVD to everyone who pre-orders and we duplicate the product so our customers will get their DVDs several days before IWM's customers.

We make programmes ourselves and IWM Duxford contracts us to make the DVDs of their airshows. We recorded the IWM Duxford show in September and are just about to release it - a 5 week delivery.

Flying Machines TV has a reputation for a good quality product and we have no doubt it will have been worth waiting for, albeit longer than usual.

Maybe 5 weeks on the September show, but its now on 15 weeks for the Flying Legends show - June 30th-July 1st ?

Re: Flying Legends Air Show 2012 PRE-ORDER AND CLAIM A FREE DVD

We (PlanesTV) had a message today from the DVD producers (Flying machines TV) to say that tomorrow Thursday they are sending us a master copy of the completed programme for us to get duplicated and packaged.

It normally takes around 2 weeks from this stage but we are able to duplicate in-house and with a bit of midnight oil we will be able to get them out early next week.

I will update this message when we have the master in our hands.

Re: Flying Legends Air Show 2012 PRE-ORDER AND CLAIM A FREE DVD

The master DVD programme arrived safely earlier today and we been able to duplicate and despatch all UK customer DVDs by teatime, overseas DVD's will go tomorrow. We expect the Bluray master shortly. They take much longer to make but expect to have all despatched within a week.

I've watched the programme and it's great; helped by gorgeous dramatic clouds and clear air. Lots of in-cockpit views.

Re: Flying Legends Air Show 2012 PRE-ORDER AND CLAIM A FREE DVD

So pleased to see I am not the only one les murphy.

I most certainly won't pre-order, in fact I think its time to notify the venue [Duxford Aviation] and warn them the people purporting to supply these orders are so unreliable they should be banned from future events.

Email going off any minute now.
