The Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival is one of the UK’s biggest shows and it’s free! It takes place midweek during the summer holidays and always attracts a big crowd; not just families looking for a day out and hoping to see regulars like The Red Arrows and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight but enthusiasts too drawn by rare appearances by USAF Nighthawk helicopter and KC135 and fast jets from Europe. This year the star for everyone was the newly restored Vulcan bomber tearing the sky apart with its spinetingling ‘howl’ backed by several other classic jets. The weather was perfect for our powerful lens cameras; clear air, dramatic clouds and the eastern aspect meant we were not looking into the sun.
